Summary

Day 11: Patten, Skupski & Salisbury into semi-finals

Three British players have booked their place in the US Open men’s doubles semi-finals with Henry Patten, Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury all progressing with their respective partners.

World No.1 and Wimbledon champions Patten and Harri Heliovaara continue their quest for a fourth Grand Slam title after saving three match points against Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard.

Patten and Heliovaara came back to beat the Argentinian-French duo 6-7(7), 7-6(3), 6-2 to set up a semi-final against fellow Brit Skupski.

Fifth seeds Skupski and Harrison were dominant in a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fourth seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final match of the day on the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Skupski and Harrison won the Australian Open earlier this year and the Brit is looking to make back-to-back US Open finals.

Skupski’s partner last year, Salisbury, also clinched a statement victory over second seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Salisbury and Rajeev Ram hit 37 winners in a 6-4, 6-4 upset victory over the reigning US Open champions.

The British-American team will play sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in the semi-finals. Salisbury and Ram are three-time US Open champions and are the only team to ever win three consecutive titles in New York.

Both semi-finals will be played late on Thursday evening UK time.

Wheelchair

Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid made winning starts in the men's wheelchair singles.

Hewett extended his winning record over Daniel Caverzaschi to 10 matches with a 6-0, 6-2 victory to set up a quarter-final against Casey Ratzlaff.

Reid had to fight through a three-set battle with Stephane Houdet, coming through 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to book a matchup with world No.1 Tokito Oda.

Andy Lapthorne and Greg Slade both exited in the first round of the quad singles.

Lapthorne was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Dutch world No.1 Niels Vink. Vink has won the last five Grand Slam singles titles and is aiming to complete the calendar Grand Slam for the first time.

Meanwhile, Slade's second US Open campaign ended in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat to Argentina's Gonzalo Lazarte.

Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid will get their men's wheelchair singles campaigns underway later today. Hewett will play Spaniard Daniel Caverzaschi, while Reid faces Frenchman Stephane Houdet.

US Open matches start from 16:00 BST and are available to watch live and exclusively on Sky Sports Tennis and Now TV.
